Siemens Takes Center Stage at AMTS Amidst the Rapidly Advancing Automotive Industry's Digital Transformation

2023-07-12

The 18th Shanghai International Automobile Manufacturing Technology and Materials Show (AMTS) commenced on July 5th.

AMTS has introduced five major themed pavilions dedicated to welding, painting, final assembly, component engineering, and the development of future automobiles and new energy engineering. Covering an expansive 90,000 sqm, the exhibition brings together over 1,000 domestic and international companies specializing in automotive materials, design, technology, equipment, quality, assembly, engineering, and services. The event is anticipated to draw 90,000 visitors.

Over the past decade, the automotive industry has witnessed a rapid digital transformation, prompting each and every automotive company to explore digitalization in its own way. How can companies thrive continue to thrive in the face of increasing complexity? How can digitalization help automobile companies speed up their transformation? The Siemens booth at AMTS, themed "Transformation Acceleration," provides insights into how organizations can overcome the new complexity and leverage digitalization to enhance the pace of their transformation.

Siemens strategically organized fourteen booths focused on intelligent manufacturing, encompassing dual-loop drive, industrial software, machining, industrial communications, factory automation, engineering standards, electrical products, motion control, data platform, edge partners, industrial metaverse, optimized services, smart industrial parks, and sustainability.

In addition to meticulously prepared lectures, the booths featured physical demonstration equipment.

Siemens showcased its latest industrial 5G router, cutting-edge Unified Human-Computer Interaction equipment, the entire range of electrical products meeting SIL3 standards, and Sicar engineering standard 5.0.

Two partners of Siemens also presented example applications, which included Dazhi Technology's artificial intelligence APP, based on Siemens’ edge products, and Geely C2M's industrial metaverse, which integrated Siemens PDPS and NVIDIA Ominiverse. These exhibits left a lasting impression on visitors.

During the exhibition, Xia Wei, the General Manager of Siemens Digital Industrial Automotive Industry Management Department, shared insights into the future of automobile manufacturing during a media interview. He emphasized that "everything is a service," highlighting the harmonious integration of future industrial software and intelligent production modules (mechatronics). Software services will define production flexibility, self-training, optimization, and pre-maintenance, creating a continuous iteration and upgrade cycle.

At the same time, Zhang Yu and Kuang Jinhai, managers of the Technical Capability Center of Siemens Digital Industrial Automotive Industry Management Department, delivered keynote speeches at the New Energy Engineering Conference associated with AMTS. The speeches, titled "Technology Empowerment - Coping with the Challenges Brought by Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development" and "Continuous Standardization and Digital Improvement to Meet the Ecological Needs of the Automotive Industry”, offered macro and practical-level perspectives on Siemens's future vision for the industrial field, particularly the automotive industry. Their presentations looked to accelerate digital transformation within the automotive sector.
